Class 1 is suitable for:

Class 2 - Recreational towing
Ideal for the recreational family that has a small single axle caravan or boat to tow around.
Class 2 is suitable for:
* small single axle caravan
* small single axle boat
* large garden trailer
* small tandem axle trailer
* 1201 - 1500 kg
Class 3 - Large, general towing
Ideal for towing larger general caravan, boat or heavily loaded garden trailers.
Class 3 is suitable for:
* larger 18-22ft caravav
* 16-20ft boat
* loaded single axle trailer
* lightly loaded large tandem axle trailer
* 1501 - 2000 kg
Class 4 - Heavy towing
Ideal for towing a heavy caravan, boat or horse float. Trailers in this class must be braked!
Class 4 is suitable for:
* large caravan
* large boat or horse float
* car transporter
* 2001 - 2500 kg
Class 5 - Heavy duty / commercial towing
Required for towing a heavily loaded transporter, caravan or boat that exceeds regular towing requirements.
Class 5 is suitable for:
* commercial tandem transporter
* loaded 22-38ft boat and trailer
* loaded 25-30ft caravan
